Our History

Kauffman Gas Begins
Elmer Kauffman starts Kauffman Gas as a small propane business alongside his furniture business.
1958
The Next Generation
Elwood and Barbara Kauffman purchase the propane business and begin expanding its customer base, facilities, and storage capacity.
1980
Third Generation Joins
Ken Kauffman joins the family business, continuing the Kauffman family legacy alongside his sister, Carolyn Grier.
1994
Kauffman Gas Incorporated
Kauffman Gas transitions from a sole proprietorship to a corporation, creating a foundation for continued growth.
2023
Kauffman Logistics
The fourth generation expands into transportation with the launch of Kauffman Logistics, a hazmat trucking company.

Virginia Propane
Chris Kauffman expands the family's propane operations into a new geographic market with the founding of Virginia Propane.
